Kids can't fight childhood cancer alone, and I am joining the fight. Why? 1. More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than other disease--in fact, more than many other diseases combined. 2. Before they turn 20, about 1/300 boys and 1/333 girls will have cancer. 3. Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes! 4. Cancer has affected my family-- My little sister Maddie was diagnosed with cancer when she was 2. While she is cancer-free, she is fighting serious side effects from the chemotherapy that "saved" her life. I have met many, many kids who are battling cancer. Some haven't made it. What am I going to do? On Saturday, March 28, I am participating in the "Salute to Little Heroes" at Flanagan's Harp and Fiddle in Bethesda, MD. I am leading Team Brendan in fundraising for St. Baldrick's ---I'm having my head shaved to show my support for kids everywhere who are fighting cancer!! What can you do? Will you support my fundraising efforts? In the 1950s, almost every child diagnosed with cancer died. Because of research, today almost 85% of children with the most common cancers will survive! For many other types, progress has been limited, and for some kids, there is still little hope for a cure. By supporting research, we can make a difference!! St. Baldrick's provides funding for research grants at all hospitals throughout the world. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting St Baldrick's and me if you can! Keep calm and go bald! Brendan Green
