We’re Markit and we’re shaving for St. Baldrick’s in the fight against kids cancer!
A small event that started with a handful of employees and a personal appeal has grown into a worldwide program of corporate philanthropy. This year we take our commitment to another level with the first annual Markit 24 Hour Global Shave: a non-stop shaving event in 15 locations around the globe with over 100 brave colleagues, friends and family members to raise funds to fight children’s cancer.
In 2010, Markit had 42 participants in 6 different offices shaving and raising funds. Markit’s team contributed over $300,000 in support of St. Baldrick’s for the funding of innovative research, including the first-ever named corporate research grant ¬– awarded to Peter Cole with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This year we expect to better that excellent effort – our initial target goal is over $400,000!
Markit’s senior executive team, including Lance Uggla, CEO; Kevin Gould, President (5 years shaving); Chip Carver, COO (3 years shaving); Shane Akeroyd, Global Head of Sales; and our local office leaders throughout North America, Asia, and Europe lead the way. The commitment from the leadership of Markit sets the example for the team to follow - a dedication to a cause, the courage to act and fortitude to carry through. It’s these same characteristics they follow in business and the ones that our clients count on every day.
The 160,000 kids diagnosed with cancer every year count on those values too. From Markit, from St. Baldrick’s, and from anyone engaged in the fight to find a cure for childhood cancer! Please join us in the fight!
