I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Kappa

About 10,380 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer in 2016. This is my seventh year shaving my head in honor of my old friend Carlo Santiago and for raising awareness for childhood cancer, and research for treatments.

I first decided to do St. Baldricks in 2010 when one of my classmates and friends wasn't able to attend school, or be in HK due to his cancer treatment. He was able to visit occasionally, however each moment seemed to end too soon.

Carlo passed away during the 5th grade, in the year 2011. He was the most optimistic and cheerful friend I had. He had even been somewhat of a role-model, once I found out he started learning the guitar, when I was stuck learning the viola. Since then, he has inspired me to keep shaving my head for research and awareness, and for him.

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
