I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

It is that time of year again, and after the past few years, isn’t it time to shave it all away and have a fresh new look. I am, for the 8th year, raising money for St. Baldricks. Did you know that worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes – that’s 300,000 kids every year!

I have the opportunity to shave my head and stand in solidarity with those who don’t have the choice; like one of St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids, Phineas, he loves adventure and dreams of driving a real monster truck when he’s cancer free. As his father Carlos says, “Our son would not be with us today if it weren’t for St. Baldrick’s and their direct support of childhood cancer research. We really can beat this. We all need to get up off it and hit the accelerator and more kids will be saved.”

I’ve set a goal of $2,000 after getting $1,700 last year. I am also reinstituting my special over achiever goal. If anyone donates $100, I will take you to lunch, so you can be seen with me in public (that’s worth a $100 by itself). Your donations go a long way for helping, 73% of your money goes towards research, 24% goes towards fundraising and only 3% goes to administrative costs.

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
