Once again I am shaving my head this year to help raise money for childhood cancer. I really need your help this year as it is my 11th year participating. I know most of you have donated in the past and it has made a difference. Over all the events that I have been to everyone has raised a total of $399,042! Let's make it 1 Billion and 399,042 this year :) Below I have made a few comments on each of the years I participated. It was a bit hard remembering all the fun times. Please help me out once more this year.
2008 - This was my first year participating. I never really knew why I wanted to participate, only that I was terrified to see myself with no hair.
[Event Raised $125,822]
2009 – Missed due to reasons outside of my control.
2010 – After missing 2009 a few of my friends came out to help me support the organization. This made them more aware of the cause and began to spread to more friends and donors.
[Event Raised $71,916]
2011 - This was a very special year. A close friend of mine daughter was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Maddison who was only 7 was there and helped shave my head with the help of the Hairdressers. We went to the Globe Trotters before the event because Maddison loved basketball so much. It was truly a wonderful experience. So many of my friends showed up in support for her and introduced the event to many more of my friends.
[Event Raised $63,900]
2012 - After last year and many more people have been introduced to the event. My friends pulled together on this one and joined me in shaving my head. While raising a lot of money watching my friends join in getting their heads shaved was fun. Especially Madison (not Maddison) who shaved about 10 inches of her hair and was now bald with me.
[Event Raised $60,219]
2013 - Another special year. With the support of Suburban Tap staff and friends we setup a new event at Suburban Tap. Local 11 alive news showed up (unfortunately our segment got bumped). Now so many more people I knew where aware of the event and joined in to support St. Baldrick’s.
[Event Raised $20,148]
MADDISON IS OFFICIALLY CANCER FREE!!!!
2014 - With our first new event year under our belt. We decided to do it again at Suburban Tap with many of my friends supporting by shaving their heads as well.
[Event Raised $3,135]
2015 - Really fun year here. While the last 2 years were at Suburban Tap, this time around it was in our control. Meaning we were the official organizers of the event. This also was my 7th year participating! St. Baldrick's recognizes this to anyone with 7 years of service as a "Knight of the Bald table". Maddison knighted me by bringing in a toy sword. Lots of friends help pull this one together for another very successful event.
[Event Raised $6,561]
2016 - This year was very special for me personally. This year my father was very sick and was released from the hospital. After 2 months in the hospital and was able to attend the event. There also was a memorable event when a young gentlemen told his story surviving cancer and losing his leg. It truly was a touching event.
[Event Raised $19,955]
2017 - Another year at the Suburban Tap and the event just keeps growing and bring in more people. I am starting to feel like we know what we are doing running the event.
[Event Raised $18,317]
2018 – Thanks to the volunteers the event “feels” like it is running itself. It truly is a lot of work that many people do to make it look easy. This year I have to look around and see how organized and professional everyone looks now.
[Event Raised $9,069]
2019 - This year will be my 11th year doing this event. It remains to be seen what cherish able memories will be made this year. We have come a long way and have a long way to go. So please help Conquer Childhood Cancers. Any amount does make a difference.
[Event will raise 1 BILLION dollars]
