I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for cancer research! There are so many different types of cancer and it can develop in people of any age so it is difficult to choose any one organization to support. I have elected to "Brave the Shave" for these reasons:

RESEARCH is why my sister, Krista, is a 7-year survivor of her breast cancer and still going strong! She's the reason I shaved in 2011.

RESEARCH is why my dad is CURRENTLY able to receive treatments to fight his brain cancer (Glioblastoma Multiforme) and although he is no child, those who know him know that he is the proverbial "Peter Pan" with a child's heart and who never wants to truly grow up!

RESEARCH is why my Tee Lake cousin Fabian, recently diagnosed with bone cancer while in junior high, is CURRENTLY able to fight his battle.

But even with the successes like my sister and the current hopeful battles of my dad and Fabian, there are the painful losses felt by families whose loved ones have lost their battles either because detection happened too late (cousin Scotty) or the current treatments that beat the initial cancer resulted in a secondary cancer (my dear friend and colleague's daughter, Julia). These were battles that couldn't be won. It is in their memory that RESEARCH must continue. It is true that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers and although St. Baldrick's focuses on childhood cancer research, I can only hope that my efforts can result in better chances and more hope for all kids - both young and old!

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference. If you have other organizations that you already support - THANK YOU! If you are able to spare a few for this cause - THANK YOU! If you are a part of a support circle for someone who is fighting - THANK YOU! Together we make a difference!
