I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

My hair has been called many things over the years – lego man hair, microphone head, sheep fleece and now I have chosen to shave it all off to raise money for St Baldrick’s and Children with Cancer UK.

Both are a fantastic charities funding the most promising cancer research just for children, raising awareness and supporting young cancer patients and their families. One of the greatest medical success stories of the last century is the growth in the survival from childhood cancer. Fifty years ago, only a quarter of children diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, more than 80% of young patients can be successfully treated.

However, childhood cancer still claims many lives. In the developed world, 20% of children with cancer will not survive 5 years. and unfortunately 80% of the children who survive may be left with serious health and developmental problems as a result of the intensive treatments used to save their lives. The stats for the developing world are far worse.

So if you’d like to make a difference, please do donate. Appreciate you might receive a lot of requests so really no donations too small (or too big for that matter).

Thank You

Guy
