I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Abbey's story of her young friend Maya,

Maya was my neighbor from Cincinnati. I babysat her and her sister back when I was in high school. Maya was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2010 at the age of 7. She fought fearlessly and went into remission two separate times after successful bone marrow transplants. Unfortunately, in June 2016, the cancer came back and it wasn't going away without a fight. Maya didn't back down from the challenge and fought this tough battle for over a year at St. Jude's hospital in Memphis Tennessee. Unfortunately, she lost her battle to cancer on October 2, 2017 at the age of 14. Maya was an inspiration to all of those around her and is dearly missed, but her story will live on and continue to inspire through her family, friends and community.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
