Hello everyone, it is St Baldrick’s time again!
I will be shaving my head this Saturday to raise money for childhood cancer research, and who would not want to solve that problem.
I am doing this to honor of the very sweet and charming Sophia Zematis who really deserves more from all of us on the curing cancer front.
If you can please, please chip in. You can get to my page at https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/cbrandt
But wait, there's more...
What’s up with that weird thing on your upper lip!?!?!?
To sweeten the deal I will throw in one hideous mustache that should not be worn by a man of my age!
If you want to see this ugly lip caterpillar gone, rush over to my page and make it happen!
More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined. Before they turn 20, about 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will have cancer. Worldwide, a child is diagnosed every 2 minutes.
With all this, only 4% of Federal funding is solely dedicated to childhood cancer research. There is a huge gap to fill for pediatric cancer.
It is not all bad news. In the 1950s, almost all kids diagnosed with cancer died. Because of research, today about 90% of kids with the most common types of cancer will live. But for many other types, progress has been limited, and for some kids there is still little hope for a cure.
Thanks to everyone who has supported this cause in the past and who will do so right now. If you know of anyone who would participate, please pass this along.
