I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi friends and family, This may come as a surprise to some, but I'm shaving my head!! Some background to why and what this is about would be good: I am currently studying human development and family studies and minoring in psychology at SPU. I intend on becoming a Child Life Specialist. A Child Life Specialist is someone who works extremely closely with children in the hospital and their families, helping them cope with the challenges of hospitalization, illness, and disability. I have been volunteering at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for the last three years, learning from my supervisor who is a Child Life Specialist. She has been my greatest inspiration. Since volunteering there, I have felt called to work with pediatric oncology patients and their families. Pediatric oncology patients are extremely near and dear to my heart because of all the children I have met over the years. I want to be able to do something that better connects me with the children I work with and supports a kind of research that I am passionate about. I have chosen to do this with St. Baldricks because they specifically support childhood cancer research. Another reason why I am choosing to raise money for this cause is because there is an enormous need for it. Childhood cancer research is one of the most underfunded branches in cancer research. So every little bit counts! The money you donate through this link will go directly to the foundation. Any sort of donation is appreciated and meaningful, thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and for your consideration. This all really means the world to me and so many others.
