I see commercials for cancer hospitals and cancer drugs on TV all the time. So, I asked my mom what cancer is and if we know anyone who has or had cancer. I did not know until then that my mom was treated for cancer. She is doing fine now. Thank God!
I told my mom that I am going to cure cancer. It's a goal of mine along with being rich and building the tallest skyscraper ever. Do you know what my mom says every time we talk about cancer? She says she thanks God everyday that it was her and not us because if was one of us, she doesn't know what she would have done.
Can you imagine being a kid and having cancer and how scary it is? This is what happened to my friend, William's sister, Maggie. She was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday. Can you believe it? I worry about riding a two wheeler, swimming, when my next cheeseburger and sushi meal is, and when I get to play Mario Brothers again. Kids with cancer worry about how much the next needle is going to hurt. My mom always says "a kid's job is to play, have fun, and be happy." There was nothing fun or happy about cancer for kids like Maggie. So, on my mom's birthday, 9/17, our (my dad and me) gift to my mom will be raising money for childhood cancer research!
So, can you please help me give my mom the best birthday gift EVER!?! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
My mom will be so proud and happy that we are doing something to help kids with cancer and hopefully some time soon, we can find a cure.
My mom always says... "Quitting is not an option" and you "Never Quit." I hope with this attitude, we can find a cure soon.
