We are one of the luckiest unlucky families.
We are unlucky in the sense that Leukemia showed up in our family on October 10, 2015 and at the time very nearly took our 2 year old son, Brandon. We are lucky because of his miraculous recovery largely due to advances in technology, modern medicine and the skill of the doctors and nurses that took care of him. Thankfully today, kids can and do survive the many forms of childhood cancers and go on to live their lives and fulfill their dreams and potential. My son Brandon is one of them. He's now 3.5 years old and continuing to recover well from the treatments.
Childhood cancer research only receives a fraction of the funding of adult cancer research. The only way to continue improving the prognosis for kids with cancer is through organisations like St. Baldrick's that solely raise funds for research specifically related to childhood cancers. I am compelled to pitch in and help raise awareness of the horrific toll that childhood cancer can inflict on children and families and the enormous benefit that childhood cancer research is doing to improve the chances for kids to survive these terrible diseases. Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer ever two minutes. This is why I am imploring you to make a donation so that other families will not have to hear the four most terrifying words a mother and father can hear - "…your child has cancer".
