I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Nine, the number is 9. That’s what this year is for me, my 9th year of shaving all this gorgeous, thick, naturally curly auburn hair that was “wasted on a man”, off. Now granted, after 9 years there’s a little added grey to it, but I’ve heard that makes someone look distinguished. Even men’s hair coloring now leaves a “touch of grey”, so I gotta be rocking this right?

But anyway, the reason behind why I do this isn’t to get a yearly haircut, or some strange Nacirema body ritual (who knows THAT one?). I do this because 9 years ago a friend of mine pointed out an organization that is truly making a difference in the lives of sick kids. These kids are going through horrors that adults fear, and many display more positivity and hope than anyone I’ve ever known. Sure there are a lot of really good organizations out there, St. Jude’s, or Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital off the top of my head, but I haven’t seen a single, big, worldwide push like St. Baldrick’s does. Plus, St. Baldrick’s passes along this money to several causes, it doesn’t stay within itself, it spreads the wealth.

Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
