I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!

Why, you ask? My son’s Boy Scout Troop lost a member last year to cancer. He was a wonderful young lad that was always happy at scout meetings. The scout stopped coming to meetings for several weeks and we found out he was being treated for cancer. The boys were devastated. The scout returned after courageously  fighting through a partial limb amputation to, hopefully, stop the disease. The scouts were ecstatic to have their buddy back for meetings. The young man and his family moved away shortly thereafter to be near specialists in another state. Sadly, our former scout eventually lost his battle to cancer. The boys in the troop were crushed as they had to face the reality that kids can get cancer, too.

This past year, I watched from afar as a long-time friend from high school friend and a very dear friend from college fought bravely to win the battle against cancer. I saw families and friends rally to help and support them in their time of need……and I thought “what can I do from halfway across the country?”

Then yesterday, another old friend from days long past posted a picture of himself announcing that he was participating in St. Baldrick’s again this year. That’s was it! Something I could do! If doing something as silly as shaving my head helps raise money for childhood cancer research, I’m in! It’ll grow back, right?? Right??

I’m asking for a donation. Any amount will do: $1, $5. Just donate something. Cancer is a wicked, nasty bitch and we need to just make it go away.

Thanks...........Mark
