1350 N. Wells Ave, $100 Min Pledge in order to shave at this event, Reno, NV US
I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with:
Scientific Games
People ask me why I am shaving my head. Some have said that its foolish. Here is my reply to those who are curious.
This year I am shaving my head in memory of Garret Allen. Garrett passed away in April 2015 due to complications (host versus graft) resulting from a bone marrow transplant to combat Leukemia. Garret was 15 years old. Garret had challenges with a rare form of anemia called Diamond Blackfan Anemia which required blood transfusions to help him. Garrett will never go to prom, or graduate from high school or do the other normal things that children do because he is now in heaven. So for Garret and all kids who have cancer I am doing this to honor them.
The family of a child who has cancer, not only do they carry a heavy burden emotionally but also have a horrible burden financially which often leads them to bankruptcy even though they have medical insurance. The medical treatment necessary to save these children often exceeds the limits of their medical insure. These families lose everything to try and save their children. Childhood cancer does not get a lot of research dollars from the government. So its up to people who participate in ST Baldricks to stand up and do our part to help.
Be it known to all that this participant has dedicated at least three years of service to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation helping kids with cancer throughout all the land.
St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids
Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.
