I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

So here it is.... Year #9 for me.   This year though I have no one in my immediate family that is affected by childhood cancer, but I do have recent good and sad experiences regarding the subject.  2 years ago a great friend and mentor, Peter, was told his son had been diagnosed with brain cancer.  Matthew was only 3.  Fast forward to January 2016 and Matthew has had several clean MRI's and is living a great life!!!

Now for my sad note.... Just a week ago I was at my full time Paramedic job when we were asked to transfer a 16 year old girl to a city hospital because of a head bleed.  She was an exchange student from China with no family here in America, just her host family and her school friends.   Just as my partner and I were preparing to load her to our stretcher, the doctor pulled us out of the room and told us there was a change of plans and a new destination because that head bleed was actually Brain CA.  I didn't know this girl, her friends or family but my heart sank and I had that knot in my stomach.   She's just 16!!!!

Fortunately and Unfortunately both these stories remind me why I do this... To give kids a chance at life.   Please help me help the kids!!
