I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Greetings!

A little more on WHY I'm shaving my head:
I am shaving my head on March 3rd to raise awareness for multiple reasons. The first is children hood cancer. Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed. This is crazy to me. We are so advanced, and so up to date with technology. We are constantly glued to our phones, so why not use them to make a difference?
Using your phone, laptop or any other device you can donate to this wonderful program. It is my goal to raise $1,000. While this will be the most expensive hair cut I have ever received, it gives me the opportunity to speak about what I truly believe in.
The second reason I am shaving my head in March is for self-love awareness. This is an independent study that I will be doing through my college, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Anorexia. Last year I spend 4 months in a treatment center re-learning how to love food, and love myself. I often notice that many women tie most of how others look at them and receive them into their hair. Society says that women need to look and act a certain way. I believed this myself for a long time. In all honest, and respect: I am also shaving my head to step outside of this box society has put most women in. To discover what it feels like to roll out of bed and be "ready" for the day instead of spending an hour or so on hair.
This experience is one that will change not only my life, but (I hope) multiple children lives as well.
Please join me in this fight to end child-hood cancer, and promote self love.
-Skylar:)
