I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
My son Jeremy was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma when he was 8 years old. He endured 2 years of chemotherapy. It threw our entire family for a loop and was one of the most difficult things we have ever had to go through. Sometimes I think Jeremy was the strongest one of us all throughout the ordeal. During that time and since then, we have met many families with similar stories. I never realized how very common childhood cancer is. Unfortunately several of these stories have not had the happy ending that ours has. I know that cancer is a horrible disease no matter what age you are or what form it is. However, there is just something about seeing a newborn baby or even a 5 year old having to go through chemo or radiation and often not making it that just rips my heart apart. We have been involved with a few different organization in trying to raise money for cancer research including the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life (which is an amazing organization) for several years. However, as I mentioned before, kids' cancers are different from adult cancers and the funding for research just isn't there?
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Let's help to figure out why this happens to these innocent children and find a way to allow our future children to live a long happy life...Cancer Free!!
