I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

You may ask why I am doing this! Am I crazy?  There are very big reasons I am going to shave my head!
There are 4 words no parent ever wants to hear: Your child has cancer. As a hospital chaplain on the pediatric oncology unit, I've witnessed first hand the devastation that childhood cancers have brought upon kids and their families. The thought "This can't happen to us" is one all of us think. But it can happen. It has happened.
14 year old Tori Vogel was very talented, strong, and smart. Tori was an amazing artist who had hopes and dreams of becoming an Anime artist. But cancer took that away from her. Tori fought triumphantly over Ewing Sarcoma for 9 months. She was preparing for her last round of chemo treatment but unfortunately she developed AML and 2 cancers were just too much for her body to fight off. Tori received her angel wings on May 29th.
Tori and so many other kids did not get a choice of losing their hair.  So on Saturday, August 8th, I am "braving the shave" in honor of Tori Vogel to raise money for childhood cancer research  so children fighting cancer can have a chance at living out their hopes and dreams!
Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer researh is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
