I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I 'm shaving my head, my beard and running a half marathon to raise money for childhood cancer research! You can support this amazing cause and sponsor me by clicking the Donate link above. Last year you helped me raise over $10,000 and I thank you again for your incredible generosity and hope together we can better it this year!. The overall event raised almost $300,000 and led to St. Baldrick’s awarding a research grant in honor of Hannahhttp://www.compasscayman.com/caycompass/2015/08/14/-Heroes-for-Hannah--research-grant-awarded

On Friday 11th September, at the 3rd Annual Heroes for Hannah Shave at The Wicket, Cricket Square, I will again be shaving my head to raise funds for the St Baldrick’s Foundation*, I will also be shaving my beard (much to Alex’s relief) which I have been growing for the last few months and to top it off and hopefully gain some extra sponsorship dollars from you I will be running the Cayman half marathon on December 6th this year (a big challenge given I have never run more than 6 miles and that was over 7 years ago!)I know that Hannah Meeson’s story has touched the hearts of many within our community and around the world and highlighted the desperate need for funding into childhood cancer research. In July 2012, age 4, Hannah was diagnosed with anaplastic medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. Her tumours disappeared after 22 months of treatment but the harsh reality is that Hannah has less than a 5% chance of surviving the next five years and there are no successful treatments available if she relapses again. In addition, Hannah struggles daily through rehab, after the treatment left her physically and cognitively disabled.Shockingly all childhood cancers combined receive only 4% of US federal funding for cancer research; without vital cancer research funded by organizations like St Baldrick’s, Hannah and kids like her will not survive. So I'm taking action by shaving and running. I hope you'll help too in the fight against childhood cancer, by sponsoring me. It's easy enough, simply click Donate button above and make a donation. Your support will make a real difference to Hannah and kids like her battling cancer. Thanks in advance and if you're in Cayman, I look forward to seeing you at the shave event on Friday September 11th.See you there!
