I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Brain Trust

I've been attending St Baldrick's for a few years now here in Hawaii.  I mainly went as a guy that just wanted to see what was going on and have a few drinks. In the past year however I ended up assisting in the event just because I was there.  I want this year to be different, that is why I am now a volunteer and also  helping to raise money by donations by pledging to shave my head bald (Haven't done that since Basic Training in 2002).

What's my history with this you may ask, well I was stationed at Tripler in the Pediatric Department in 2006.  While working there I have had the honor of working alongside some of the best doctors, nurses and support staff I have ever met, but perhaps the greatest experience I have had was meeting the different Hem-onc patients that came through.  The strength that these kids and their families have is unbelievable and the only thing that surpasses that is their love.  Not just for each other, but for everyone they come across.  They truly give me hope for humankind.

In the past year my life along with my family's have been kind of a roller coaster ride, some bad events but thankfully more good times.  It was after this that I realized we all need to work together and help each other out.  So please help give these kids a fighting chance by donating what you can and thank you.
