Shear amazingness! How much money would it take to shave your head? What if all that money went to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer? Rather than asking you to shave your head, I am asking you to donate in support of me becoming a “shavee” or actual “Bald Rick” as I participate in a St. Baldrick’s signature event on March 8th, 2015.
The St. Baldrick’s signature head shaving itself is just a means to an end. I am shaving my head because kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, and I will stand proudly bald beside them. But the true goal – to cure childhood cancer – will be accomplished because, while shaving, I will be able to raise funds and awareness for lifesaving childhood cancer research.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation mission is to find cures for childhood cancers and to give survivors long and healthy lives. The organization is the largest private (non-government) funder of childhood cancer research grants. So when I ask for your support in the form of a donation, I am really asking you to support these infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. They and I thank you!
Please help me reach or even surpass my goal of $1500. Donations to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation are tax deductible. Every dollar counts, literally. Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Help me fund the research that will save their lives!
My inspiration is my 7 year old daughter’s friend Kristen O who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in 2009 and deserves the best chance for a cure. She is a miracle warrior who is destined to kick cancer to the curb. While Kristen is currently doing well, many other kids battling cancer are not so fortunate and that is why your donation is vital and greatly appreciated.
