Hello everyone, I first off want to thank you for even coming to the website for our St. Baldrick's event. This event will not be possible without the donations everyone contributes and the fantastic team of volunteers that have gathered together to help me out in planning and making sure this event can take place.
I have been an ICU nurse for 6 years and have helped treat several patients and have dealt first hand with the powerful effects of cancer on the patient themselves and their families. As a caregiver and now as a volunteer on behalf of the St. Baldrick's Foundation I want to help out as much as I can to help put an end to childhood cancer.
Many of my close friends and family know that awhile ago I sustained a terrible back injury. As a result of my experiences as a patient in and out of hospitals and clinics; I have certainly gained a better understanding what it is like to be on the other side of patient care. Though what I have gone through is completely different from cancer, it has affected me for the rest of my life much like a diagnosis of cancer many times does. I can honestly say, "My situation could always have been worse." As I sit here and think, childhood cancer comes to mind as being a situation far too many children and their families go through on a daily basis. Also, what comes to mind, is that there really are not too many things in life that are worse than finding out your child has been diagnosed with cancer. Through continued research in new treatments, a diagnosis of childhood cancer hopefully will not be as scary as it once was.
This is why I have decided to amass a group of volunteers, secure as many donations as possible and give back to the community, to the medical research community, and to the very lives that are impacted by childhood cancer so that one day we may find a cure. After all, these children are the future generations of the world.
To help kids fighting cancer, Please support me!
With head-shaving and other fundraising events, this volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
