I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Undead Shaves Their Head

Corby is the name I was born with. Madeya Ink is my derby name, but my most treasured name is Mama. I am a parent to 3 vivacious children. The joy of parenting requires an ability to handle high doses of love, tempered by a healthy helping of sheer terror. Cancer is part of that sheer terror, no parent expects to encounter. Cancer is one of those words that any person absolutely hates to hear, but especially a person who is hearing it being used to describe a diagnosis involving their child. A child is diagnosed with cancer every 3 minutes, help support these children by donating to St. Baldricks. With St Baldricks being 2nd in funding research for treatment for childhood cancers, fundraising with them has been amazing. My first experience shaving my head for St. Baldricks was deeply fulfilling. I felt immense doses of love from my donors and sensed some terror once that buzzer hit my head, but then as the cool hit my scalp I felt relief. I'm lucky to be on this side of the fight. Raising funds just knowing that you're contributing to a potential cure is rewarding enough, honoring those diagnosed with cancer by shaving our heads shows our solidarity not only in standing with them, but also standing up for them, AND their families. Don't wait until cancer strikes too close to home. Donate & Join me in hip checking cancer.
