Greetings,
For those who are unaware why some of us are starting to look like Mountain Men, a group of fine men (some exceptions including myself of course ;-) from Air Wisconsin (Ian Schiesl and Chris Meyer) and Pub Family at McGuinness Irish Pub (Peter, Bruce, Mav, Rob, Chris, Brian, etc.) have formed Team McGuinness to raise money to fight childhood cancer.
We are growing our hair out and for those of us who can (sorry Ian :-) we are growing our beards out to bring attention to this worthy cause. Anyone who has any interest in joining our team as a shavee is welcome. Any donation no matter how much is very much appreciated!
If you enjoy good live Irish Music and some craic join us at Oshkosh Irish Fest (Jun 12 - Jun 15) and join in the laugh as we get shaved for a good cause. I am personally not liking my long hair and I am very much looking forward to joining the ranks of hairless heads walking around Air Wisconsin (insert multiple names here - you know who you are :-)!
In the meantime feel free to marvel at our beautiful beards (again sorry Ian).
"More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined."
"Before they turn 20, about 1 in 300 boys and 1 in 333 girls will have cancer."
"Worldwide, a child is diagnosed every 3 minutes."
"Because kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, "shavees" for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation show their support by shaving their heads voluntarily, and inspiring friends and family to donate money to support childhood cancer research."
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
