It's that time of year again! Not that child cancers shouldn't be promoted other days of the year but it's that time of year for me to shave my head again in honor of kids fighting this disease. I am pretty fortunate in my life. I live in a house with my parents, a younger brother, and a dog. We do all sorts of things together from playing sports to cooking. We are also a cancer-free family. The fact is, one out of 10,000 people in the US have a form of childhood cancer. While that may seem small, there are more than 350 million people in the US. With those facts, we could say that around 35,000 kids a year get cancer. That's in one year. That means, in my lifetime (13 years), about half a million kids have gotten cancer. 500,000 kids have been diagnosed with cancer since 2000. That's a lot of kids. I am very fortunate to not have to deal with this disease, but the fact is, nobody is immune. Those 500,000 kids weren't, and it has changed their lives forever.
That is why I have decided to do St. Baldrick's the second year in a row. It is because I know I can make a difference that I donate not only my money, but my time, hair, and my heart to this organization. Because I know that by funding and promoting research, more kids can stay alive. I hope you will join me in the fight to help end children's cancers and donate to my campaign or volunteer as a shavee.
I am shooting to raise $1000 this year but I cannot do it alone. Please donate to help me end children's cancer. If you would not like to or are unable to donate, please pass this site on to someone that may want to, and help spread the word about St. Baldrick's.
Thanks!
