I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Kapwa

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was only 4. I didn't fully understand what was happening when she would lie at home moaning it pain, and I didn't really know what "chemotherapy" meant. I can only imagine how lost and misguided I would have been had she passed away from her cancer. Fortunately, I am happy to say that she beat breast cancer and that God has granted her 17 years (and counting!) of beautiful, precious life on this earth. However, in those 17 years, I have witnessed many of my friends' own parents succumb to their own personal forms of cancer. Although my family was blessed when my mother became a survivor, I learned that not everyone could have the same fortunes. To me, cancer was this insignificant thing that could be beaten just like my mother did. However, as I grew up, I saw cancer tear apart families. Friends, family, parents, peers, mentors... so many people in those 17 years passed away because of cancer. I first became acquainted with cancer in the form of my mother's breast cancer, but as I grew older, the people I knew that were affected by it became younger and younger. The hardest hitting case was when my friend from high school was diagnosed with cancer and passed away during our sophomore year of college. It began to hit me that cancer not only affects grown-ups, but young adults and children as well. Thus, because of my experiences with cancer and because of my immense love of children, I am shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
