I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Calling all mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins, girl-friends!!! Perhaps this year you will consider embracing the St. Baldrick’s Foundation cause of curing childhood cancers in a very personal way. BE BRAVE…SHAVE!! You could have the adventure of a lifetime. You will learn a lot…about yourself…about solidarity with those battling cancer…about how to encourage others to contribute to the SBF cause! If you shave and wear an “Ask Me Why I’m Bald” button, countless opportunities will present themselves to speak about SBF, its purpose, and its successes. People don’t think twice when they see a bald man these days…they do when they see a bald woman. And they will ask questions if you wear a button…so be prepared to answer them! I’ve been bald since March of 2013. What an adventure! I’ve talked with people on a cruise ship (from all over the world!!) in Alaska…and with others in New England who were in enjoying the autumn colors. Many people knew of SBF…many more did not. So many of the people I talked with had someone in their lives who has been affected by childhood cancer. Everybody would be thankful if all cancers could be cured…when we find the keys that unlock the cure to childhood cancers, we find the keys that will eventually unlock the cure for all cancers. THAT is a cause worth embracing. If you cannot shave, you can still support those who do by talking about SBF and making a donation. Every donation counts. $1 is not too little, and $1000 is not too much. Last year when I decided to “go bald” for a whole year, I set a high goal. I didn’t reach the goal. I have decided to remain bald until that full goal is met (or until I have firm pledges for the goal amount). To reach the goal I need 365 people to make a $25 pledge. Will you consider buying a day or two of baldness…maybe even a week’s worth of baldness ($175)? I will appreciate your support…SBF will be grateful for the donations that provide the funds for research grants all over the USA and many other countries, as well. I hope you will embrace the cause to cure childhood cancers in any way you can!! If you’d like to read about my adventures last year, here’s the link to my 2013 SBF webpage: http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/580511/2013 Thanks for your interest! Check back for updates!! +Sherrie
