I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research
As some of you may know for the last three years I have been supporting a little warrior that was battling cancer, Neuroblastoma. Trevor Blake did not allow this disease to define who he was. He started a non-profit called Trevor’s Treasures (http://www.trevorstreasures.org/) that collects and distributes toys to other hospitalized children. Earlier last year his parents made the tough call to stop all treatments. They instead chose to spend the final months taking him to baseball games and the beach.
On his CaringBridge.org journal (Aug 11th), Trevor's mother wrote that he died with his family by his side. "My strong brave boy has received his wings... he has moved on to fulfill his mission of watching over all of us and all the other children faced with battling this awful disease. He has won," she wrote. There’s a wonderful tribute to him on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxEUPdkC_Tg).
Even though I don’t have a personal relationship with any other kids battling cancer like I did with Trevor, I still feel called to do my part to raising awareness for these little children. Please check out my St. Baldrick's webpage (http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/668927/2014) and if you can please help me raise money for research. On behalf of Trevor and all the other kids I thank you and God Bless.
Be it known to all that this participant has dedicated at least three years of service to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation helping kids with cancer throughout all the land.
St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids
Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.
