I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Chrome & Red

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Chrome & Red

Why am I doing this, you might ask... Why *this*?
Well, I could go into the pulling at the heart strings by telling stories of children with cancer. Of lost childhoods, of parents grieving because of the unnatural state of having a child suffer, a child die before you do. I could say because it's a great cause, as it is a great cause.
Maybe I could give you statistics and numbers and data about the organization, or cancer in children, or the costs of caring for one kid with cancer.
Yes, I'm doing this for all those reasons.
I'm doing this because it's the one thing I *can* do, at least try to do, to help stop the pain and suffering that no child or family should endure- ever.
I can't give a lot of money at this point in my life, nor can I physically run around or volunteer to help out.
I CAN shave my hair off, though- or, actually, have it shaved off.
I CAN get over myself & society's "norms" & be bald, cut off my thick (dyed) red hair- because I have that as a CHOICE... These kids don't have that choice.
They don't choose to get sick. They don't choose to lose their hair, feel nauseated all the time, miss out on basic parts of being "just a kid".
So, I'll stand proudly next to that bald kid & say- being bald is KICK ASS. ALL the Cool Kids are doing it now....

Here's the scripted message:
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you! Wait until you see me BALD HEADED!

I am soooo going to rock that look!
