Dear Family & Friends,
Luke asked us if he could shave his head again to raise money for St. Baldrick's, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. Normally, I'm not a fan of asking for donations but this organization is pretty amazing and definitely close to our hearts.
When Luke's cousin (my brother's daughter), Casey, was diagnosed two years ago, Luke heard about St. Baldrick's from his good buddies, Luke and Jack Fischer, and wanted to shave his head for Casey. Luke and Jack's close friend, Hannah, battled and beat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). We think Casey & Hannah are amazing and that it's pretty awesome these three boys want to support them by shaving their heads bald for the 3rd year to stand in solidarity with all kids battling cancer.
Casey will be 14 years old in March. She is cancer free, and we are so incredibly thankful! Two years ago, she was diagnosed with a Wilm's Tumor on her kidney. She had her kidney and the tumor removed and received radiation/chemo since it had spread to her lungs and liver. Casey's name means courage and she's lived up to her name! She's an awesome person and is already doing great things for others.
Literally, every single dollar counts, so even a few dollars helps get one step closer to understanding childhood cancer! We had no idea only 4% of federal funds goes toward childhood cancer reasearch! That's why St. Baldrick's is so important ~ as the largest private funder of research grants for kids. Read about it here: http://www.stbaldricks.org/filling-the-funding-gap.
Thank you for supporting Luke again and for contributing to helping find a cure for childhood cancer!
