I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters

Hello, My name is John Usry, I am a firefighter/paramedic with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. I am also a childhood cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 13. I relapsed when I was 17 and had a bone marrow transplant 4 days before my 18th birthday. My transplant was almost 23 years ago and to this point I have beat the odds associated with my illness and treatments. Since then I became a firefighter, got married, and adopted a beautiful little girl. In all regards I feel I have been very blessed, lucky, and successful. In 2010 and 2011 I collected money for the St. Baldrick's Event in Jacksonville and thanks to your generous support I was always the top money collector for the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department. However, I have never been the top money collector for the event. Last year I got beat by a police officer-I mean come on really, a cop. This year I would like to claim the the title of top donation collector for the whole event. More importantly, I would like to help fund research to eliminate childhood cancer. No child should have to undergo the ordeals associated with cancer treatment. Please donate anything you can afford. Help me achieve my goals. Help find a cure! Thanks, John Usry http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/643368/2013
