I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 Aiden who was 2.5 years old came home from Day Care with a little fever. Mom (Gena) noticed some swollen lymph nodes in Aiden's neck. She thought he may have tonsillitis. She made an appointment with his Doctor for the following day, Feb. 21. The Doctor took a CBC test and he said he thought his machine was broken so asked Gena to take Aiden over to the hospital to have the blood test run. The hospital re-took the test. The hospital called Gena again before she even got home and asked them to come back. They needed to redo the CBC test again. Aiden's doctor called about 8 p.m. Feb. 21 and told them to take Aiden to Kosair hospital immediately. He thought Aiden had luekemia. Kosair did Aiden's CBC again. His # was so high (232,000) normal is 10-15,000. Around 4:00 a.m, it was confirmed (High Risk) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It was a moment we will never forget - our lives were forever changed. It is my honor to shave my head in honor of my son, Aiden and for all the other brave children who are battling this ugly disease. "Children" and the word "Cancer" should never be spoken in the same sentence. Won't you please help raise money to find a cure for childhood cancer? As Aiden's Dad I have to say he just amazes me with his courage and strength as he goes through his 3.5 year (daily) treatment for A.L.L. If you would like to follow Aiden's progress, his website is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/aidenjohnson. Thank you in advance for your support!
