I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hello,
My name is Thomas and I work in pediatric oncology research at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. In my four years working there, I've been a part of something truly amazing; witnessing the strength, the courage, the will, and the resiliency of children FIGHTING cancer! I've been a part of some amazing lives, some who fought and won their battle with cancer and some who fought diligently, and lost.
On March 30th, one of my patients will be shaving my head to raise money for pediatric oncology research. So you may be thinking, why shave your head? Well, three reasons 1) to spread awareness of this disease, 2) to stand side by side with these children with cancer (with our bald heads), and 3) to help them psychosocially. As you can recall early in our lives, and for some even today, our appearance plays a crucial role in who we are. So as a child who's goal is to fit in with other children...to be like, to look like...becomes even harder when they have absolutely no hair! These are the reasons why I'm shaving my head! To stand in solidarity with those fighting pediatric cancer!!!
Please donate what you can and see if your employer has a matching program. And if, you're not in a position to right now, please forward this email to friends, family, and co-workers.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
