So, much like someone running a 10K to cure Name-Your-Favorite Disease, I am participating in an activity that's main goal is to raise funds for a charitable cause... Unlike running a 10K, this activity will take very little effort on my part, as I am is getting my head shaved on "St. Baldrick's Day" as an act of solidarity with children nationwide who are suffering from childhood cancers... (And yes, as a good Catholic, I looked it up, and there is not a real "St. Baldrick" -- it's a play on going "Bald" near St. Patrick's day, when this fundraiser is held nationally every year.)
As you likely know, I worked in a cancer research lab at Cincinnati Children's Hospital for over 2 years in undergrad, and I can tell you first hand that cancer research is a very noble, yet underfunded endeavor; Cancer researchers are generally very smart people who work much more than 40 hours a week, with tons of un-compensated overtime, to stretch every donated dollar as far as possible... Be assured that a donation of ANY amount - no matter how meager - truly matters and will help bring cures to kids faster...
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Genuinely,
Nate
