I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I am doing this for a number of reasons: 1) Obviously to help find a cure for this terrible disease 2) To show my support for this cause 3) I was planning on shaving my head to help make a certain young man's special day with the Midwest Garrison of the 501st Legion even more special by helping fulfill his wish to "battle Darth Maul", in addition to doing this for him, what better way to help than to do what I can to help fight the disease that is afflicting him. Here is his story, posted with permission from his mother: Just a few days before Halloween this year, when most little five-year old boys are trying on their costumes and planning a big "candy haul," Max and his family received devastating news that he had a very rare brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The cancer is so rare that it only shows up in 100 to 150 chlidren in the US each year. In early November, Max started a daily 5 a.m. chemotheraphy regimen at Children's Memorial which will be followed by radiation intended to shrink the tumor. On March 7th, the day after I shave my head in honor of Max, myself and the rest of the 501st will be doing all we can to put a smile on Max's face. I will be suiting up as Darth Maul and doing what I can to make this a memorable day for him (beyond just dressing up and shaving my head, more on that to follow). I know the economy is terrible right now, but every dollar helps! I really would like to not only meet my goal but surpass it, so please, give what you can, and thank you in advance! I don't think I can post pictures of me as Maul for the event, but I promise to post a picture of me sans hair! You can also read about max here: www.maxlacewell.com
