This is my second year participating in St. Baldrick's. Originally I wasn't going to do it again but I was thinking while I was at the hair dresser's getting my hair dyed. My first thought was "Man, I miss my long hair" (I Kept my hair short after last year) and then I realized that when I go to bed at night, I don't think about my hair whether it's short or long or red or brown. I just don't really care. But these kids that battle cancer, when they go to bed, they think about their health and the childhood they're missing out on and despite struggling with that, they have to loose their hair and stand out even more from their peers. So I've decided to participate again as a Shavee in hopes to make a difference one day, for these children and families.
Why am I having my head shaved? To stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, who typically lose their hair during treatment. More importantly, I'm doing it to raise funds for childhood cancer research! Worldwide, more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year. The St. Baldrick's Foundation partners with organizations around the world to fund childhood cancer research. We must all do everything we can to give kids a better chance for a cure.
