Thank you for taking the time to preview our event and for considering it as worthy of your financial support. I first heard about this charity two years ago when the Valhalla Fire Department in Valhalla New York (of which I am life member and chaplain) sponsored their first event. To be honest, having limited information, I thought was kind of hokey and the timing conflicted with my schedule anyway, so I did not participate. That night I received an email from my friend who was the event organzer and he told me that they raised $20K that day for St Baldrick Foundation and finding a cure for childrhood cancer. I was "shocked" and "sold" at the same time and I knew that someday soon I would work toward making this event part of our Saint Joseph School's charity events. I also knew that whoever chaired it would need commitment, enthusiasm, faith and energy. Enter SJS parents Mike and Dianna Sobutka! I asked them to dinner and among several other topics, I brought up this event and their immediate response was "How can we help?" The rest is unfolding before us this year. They have jumped in with both feet and hit the ground running. Our school and St. Baldrick's is blessed to have Mike and Dianna working for the cause that I am certain we all agree is noble and very necessary.
