My Story

Emily loved life! She had a permanent smile on her face! Dancing, cheerleading, and school were her favorite activities. She dreamt of being a princess, and wanted to be a nurse at a pediatric oncology clinic. March of 2012 was when life changed for Emily and her family. It was during a school performance that Emily's grandmother noticed something was wrong, as Emily's smile only worked on one side of her face. Emily was brought to Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis where a MRI was performed and it was discovered that she had a golf ball sized brain tumor; a biopsy later reported that it was Glioblastoma Multiforme. Due to the location and size of the tumor surgery was not recommended, radiation and chemo was the plan. Emily went through the daily treatments like a rock star, never once complaining. She attended school everyday and continued to make everyone around her smile! Emily was "Brighter Than the Sun" as her favorite Colbie Calliat song goes. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
