I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Jamie's Gents and Gals

I am a Cancer Kid's Mom. This will be my 10th year of organizing a St. Baldrick's event at my daughter's grade school, St. Albert the Great. I will tell you honestly that it is not easy for me to organize this every year. Many emotions and memories are brought to the surface . It is hard that many of the cancer kids that I have come to know and love are in heaven. Some people tell me to move on , that I have done enough. But, I can't. Not yet. There is a song lyric that plays through my head this time of year. "How can you run when you know"! Once you've said your last goodbye to a child near death , it changes you. The worst thing for a parent is to think that your child will be forgotten. I made a vow to remember each and every child and to celebrate his/her memory. It's what keeps me going. My daughter, Jamie, was a high risk ALL Leukemia patient. She had a 60 % survival rate. Many advances in medicine have improved the life expectancy of these kids. The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises money for childhood cancer research. It is why Jamie is a healthy 23 year old now ! I think that says it all.
