I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Alyse

Hey guys!

I’ve volunteered to have my HEAD SHAVED on March 11 to help raise awareness and funds to support childhood cancer research! I’m incredibly pumped to be a part of this amazing event; it will be a very meaningful and emotional experience for me.

The decision to shave my head and donate my long locks of hair wasn’t one that came easy to me—at least not until about a year ago. My younger sister, Alyse Zabel, battled with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and on August 31st, 2011 she went home to heaven to be with Jesus. A year ago around St. Baldrick’s time, she was an honorary child for the first time. Because of that, we had many discussions about shaving heads and how hair is overrated. She mentioned that being bald was “the new thing” and how she personally thought it made someone look ten times “cuter.” She was hands down, the most beautiful bald young lady I have ever met. I’m honoring her on March 11 by shaving my head and giving up the hair she would constantly tell me she loved and wished she had. I plan on donating my hair to Locks of Love to put a smile on some child’s face who can’t grow their own.

The goal of funds that Team Alyse hopes to raise is $4000 and with your help and support I KNOW it’s possible :) Please give freely! Children battling cancer are so brave, strong, courageous, caring and loving, let’s help find a cure for childhood cancer together!

If you’d like to come watch and cheer me on, please do! It’s at the Fond du Lac High School and starts at 12pm. I’d love the support and for you to be there!

Blessings,

Casey :)
