“I have cancer.” You never want to hear those three words come out of a loved one’s mouth. But this came a reality for me in 2004 when my mom told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. My thoughts automatically went to thinking that I was going to grow up without a mom. “What’s going to happen?” “Are you dying?” Some of you have encountered this situation with a loved one, relative, friend, co-worker, etc. Cancer is on the top ten list of causes that kill people. Some way or somehow, each and every one of us will or have been affected by this deadly disease.
Ever since junior year of high school, I have wanted to shave my head for St. Baldrick’s. Three years later, I have finally got the guts to sign up for the event. I am SO excited to take this huge step of faith and lean on the Lord for this whole situation. I know I am bound to be judged or made fun of, but I don’t care what people think of me. Basically, cancer patients go through hell; the least I can do for them is to shave my head and fundraise money to find a cure for this treacherous disease. More and more Americans are dying every year from cancer. Let’s stop this one bald head at a time.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States government. Your financial gift will give hope to infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I’m really asking you to support these kids. Thank you so much! Click “Make a donation” to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
As many of you recall, I donated my hair four times to the cancer organization called Locks of Love. Well, this time I am taking it a step further by shaving it all off for a great cause that is very near and dear to my heart.
