Friends and Family, As many of you know, I lost both of my grandmothers in the first few months of 2008. While neither of them were stricken with cancer, both of them lost their husbands to cancer before I was born and cancer research was important to them throughout their lives. As a tribute to both my grandmothers who recently passed, and to the grandfathers I never met, I've decided to join a growing group of 20+ athletes and staff from the U.S. Olympic Committee who are shaving their heads as part of the St. Baldrick's Day fundraiser in Colorado Springs on April 4. The goal of this event is to raise both "awareness and funds to cure kid's cancer" and while my participation won't benefit my grandfathers or grandmothers, hopefully it will help in a small way to have a positive impact on the more than 160,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer each year. Thanks in advance for your consideration! EJP
