I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Annapolis Fire

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!

In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. I am participating in the St Baldricks event in Baltimore on March 6 for the Annapolis Fire Team. I know I don't have much hair to donate, but what I have is going for a good cause. The St Baldricks organization raises funds for kids with cancer. I lost a dear friend to cancer not so long ago, his name was Jack Zoppo. Jack was a Lieutenant along with myself in the Baltimore City Fire Department. He was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer in the prime of his life and left us all much too early. He loved kids, being a firefighter and his family. I think of him often...and that one of a kind Zoppo laugh. If you can take a moment to give a little in helping fight this terrible disease it will be money well spent. If not, hey...I know times are tough, thanks for listening to me about my friend and wish me luck...maybe I can grow some more hair between now and the event.
