I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Greeks of UNM

That's right everyone, I'm shaving my head to help raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer and the research that will one day eradicate it! I am asking everyone to please consider making any donation that fits into your budget and to come to the event to support me! Donations can be made by phone or online by clicking the "Make a donation" tab to the left of the screen! Now here's a little bit about what's going on: For over ten years, the St. Baldrick's Foundation has committed itself to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers that would otherwise go untreated. This charitable organization is driven completely by volunteers, making it one of the top non-profit agencies in the country. Presently, the Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any other organization except the U.S. government. On May 7, 2011, the 9th Annual St. Baldrick's ABQ event will be held at the UNM Children's Hospital, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the hospital to help fund the research grants for children affected by cancer. At the event, participants, or shavees, will shave their heads to represent cancer patients who have lost their hair after chemotherapy treatment. By being a part of this simple act, you can help spread the message that we must fight for a cure! Putting vanity aside and standing up to cancer not only shows that hair is insignificant, but your actions will also bring us one step closer to giving these children the long and healthy lives they deserve! This year, we will be adding a few new activities to the event in order to ensure that we have a great turnout and an even bigger donation for the children than ever before! These activities will be announced within the next few weeks when the accommodations have been finalized. Your fundraising efforts will raise much needed support for cancer research and your bald head will be a display of solidarity for children who will lose or have already lost their hair to chemotherapy. St. Baldrick's welcomes anyone and everyone who wants to join in the fight against childhood cancer. If you or someone you know would like to be a shavee or to be a part of the event, your help would be greatly appreciated! Anyone interested in volunteering should contact one of the three organizers, Adam, Britt, or Jenna. This is a family-oriented event, so all ages are encouraged to attend. It will definitely be a lot of fun, so please invite your family, friends, and everyone else you know to come out and support the children of Albuquerque who need our help! Thank you for your support!
