I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Second Grade Teachers

Yep! I'm cutting off my pony tail. As many of you know, I teach 2nd grade at St. Albert the Great School. St. Albert has been participating in the St. Baldrick's Day event for many years. Last year during my first year here at St. Albert I was asked by several of my students if I would be cutting my hair for Locks of Love during the St. Baldrick's Day event. I had never thought of it, but I was not ready to shed my locks for a shorter hairdo. As I saw many of the other students have their heads shaved or pony tails cut, I realized how selfish I was being. What if I had to face the reality of going through chemotherapy and lose my hair? I would not have a choice in the matter. So right then I decided that I would continue to let my hair grow so that it could be cut during the event in 2008. Well, St. Baldrick's Day 2008 is only weeks away! I have been letting my hair grow, with the exception of a trim here and there. My pony tail is currently 12.5 inches long! It will all be cut off on March 17, 2008! To make it more interesting, I am going to be letting one of my students cut off my pony tail! Students in my class will be able to have their name entered into a drawing for every $25 they raise for St. Baldrick's. Any student who signs up to participate by shaving their head or cutting their pony tail will get an additional 5 chances in the drawing!
