My Story

On November 15th, our beautiful 7week old daughter was diagnosed with cancer, specifically Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma. At the time of this diagnosis, this cancer which originated in her adrenal gland had spread to her liver which is what constitutes this as Stage 4S. The diagnosis was later changed after formal pathology was performed showing multiple negative genetic indicators. Typically in children under age one Neuroblastoma is a very treatable cancer, however, given Leah's age and the size of her tumor she was deemed very critical. Our first several hours in the hospital consisted of lab work, meeting with consultants and just processing her diagnosis. Unfortunately, she took a turn very quickly and required admission to the pediatric ICU. After about 45 days in the hospital, and chemotherapy Leah was released with regular monitoring and follow-ups. In July of 2018 Leah had a regrowth on her primary site, her left adrenal gland. She immediately underwent surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) in NYC to remove the tumor and her entire adrenal glad in what was a 9 hour surgery. She has since completed 6 more rounds of very aggressive chemotherapy.  She is currently No Evidence of Disease but still undergoing treatment based upon the severity of her diagnosis. Next up is 7 months of immunotherapy at MSK in NYC. Thank you all for your support. Mom. Dad, Big Sister Avery & Big Brother Aaron really appreciate it.
