I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Cicero-North Syracuse Teachers

Dear friends, Few things make me angrier and feel as powerless as cancer. So in an attempt to do something about this terrible disease, I am joining some of my C-NS colleagues at this year's St. Baldrick's event on March 9, 2008, at Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub & Restaurant. For those of you who aren't familiar with St. Baldrick's, it's an organization started in 1999 by a group dedicated to ending childhood cancer. St. Baldrick's Executive Director Kathleen Ruddy calls us "an elite group of brave volunteers who sacrifice their hair in solidarity with children fighting cancer, to raise funds for life-saving research." While I'm not sure about her adjectives or the "sacrifice" of my hair, I am certain that this is a fight that we need to win. So I will be shaving my head on the 9th of March, and I am urging you to donate to the St. Baldrick's fundraiser. You can contribute by clicking on the link above. You can donate online with a credit card, send a check to the organization, or leave your cash or checks with me. Please let me know if you have any questions about the event or how to donate. Sincerely, John Rivito
