Why I’m Shaving My Head—And Why It Matters
Twenty-five years ago, a simple challenge among friends sparked the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids' Cancer. This year, I am joining thousands of others in shaving my head to raise critical funds for childhood cancer research.
The Reality
1 in 5 kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. will not survive.
Of those who do survive, 96% will face severe or life-threatening health conditions by the time they reach 50.
These aren't just statistics to me; they are the reality my family lives every day. Every shaved head and every dollar donated creates a ripple effect of progress. Your gift provides hope and supports the best research in the country through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants.
Why I’m Doing This
I am thinning my hair to thicken the hope for those I love most:
In Memory of my Mom: Tracy Marie Smith (RIP)
In Memory of my Brother: Christopher Stephen Smith (RIP)
In Honor of my Son: Cody Lynn Smith, who is currently in the thick of his own fight.
Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your strength, your prayers, and your support.
