Can you think of anything more important than saving the life of a child?
This year, I’m proud to team up with my fellow Galloway Township police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to support lifesaving research focused on finding cures and safer treatments for childhood cancers.
Why?
Because cancer is the number one disease-related killer of children—and because childhood cancer hits close to home.
In May 2025, our family was shocked and terrified when my beautiful niece, Avery, was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. It all began when my sister noticed a strange glow in Avery’s left pupil. Within a week, Avery received her diagnosis and immediately began treatment.
While there is still a journey ahead, we are incredibly grateful to share that Avery is now cancer-free. Our family is deeply thankful for the extraordinary doctors and nurses who cared for her, and for our amazing family and friends whose love, support, and prayers carried us through this difficult time.
By sharing Avery’s story, we hope to raise awareness and help educate parents about the signs and symptoms of retinoblastoma. Early detection can truly make all the difference.
That’s why I’m teaming up with St. Baldrick’s—the number one charity funder of childhood cancer research grants—as they celebrate their 25th year of impact.
Even though there’s not much left to shave, I’m still shaving my head to stand with the children and families affected by childhood cancer. So skip your morning coffee and consider donating a few dollars instead. Coffee is great—but nothing is more satisfying than helping kids fighting cancer.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
